Congratulations to the recipients of this year’s Ogunyemi Family Foundation Wisdom, Strength, and Endurance Scholarship!
Each year, we ask applicants to describe a time they’ve had to overcome adversity. And each year, I walk away humbled, encouraged, and inspired. These young people don’t just survive difficult circumstances—they rise, fight, and thrive. Their stories of resilience remind us that adversity doesn’t define us; how we respond to it does.
Reading their essays always gives me pause and purpose. It challenges me to become a better version of myself, to keep striving back, and to continue inspiring the next generation, which inspired me.
What started just a few years ago as Dr. Clement Ogunyemi‘s vision and a $250 scholarship with only a couple of applicants has grown into something far more meaningful. And we’re just getting started.
It is an incredible honor and privilege to help reduce the barriers to higher education. But more than that, it’s a joy to be a small part of their story as they pursue greatness, despite the odds. We aim to continue increasing the scholarship amount and expanding our impact within the community that shaped us.
A special thank you to Ruston Daily Leader for covering our scholarship recipients year after year and helping us highlight these students’ incredible journeys.
I’m energized, hopeful, and extremely excited about the future because it’s in their hands.
